Last year, nearly 7,000 stray and unwanted animals were sheltered and cared for at the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Half were adopted.

Will you help me?

Each animal that is adopted from the Humane Society of the Black Hills leaves the facility already spayed/neutered, with at least one set of vaccinations, has a nationally registered microchip, and comes with a certificate for a free veterinary exam.

I'll be a good dog

Shelter animals are not "bad" pets. Nearly all shelter animals were brought to us for reasons that did not include the animal's behavior. Often, people simply don't take into consideration the level of responsibility involved with a new pet!

The Humane Society raised $4,552.00 from the tattoo fundraiser held sunday and monday at Addictive Ink.

"We stopped in one Saturday "just to look at the pets", intending to be able to adopt in the near future. To our utter surprise and subsequent joy, a Basset Hound puppy had been brought in just a day or so earlier.
