About “SNIP it”
“SNIP it” is a partnership project between All Creatures Veterinary Hospital and the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
This exciting new project provides spay/neuter services on an income-based, sliding fee scale. While there are many options available to community members for spay/ neuter services, there is a significant group of residents who neither qualify for the existing low-cost spay/neuter programs, nor can they readily afford the full-price expense of these services.
The “SNIP it” initiative is intended to bridge the gap for those who fall in between existing services. The project will lessen the financial burden of this population-controlling procedure, while educating community members about what it means to be a responsible pet owner!
We are currently looking for sponsors to help with this initiative! Please contact Jerry Steinley at the Humane Society of the Black Hills for more information: (605) 341-3217
HOW TO APPLY
In order to use the “SNIP it” program, customers must fall under one of three income levels. Income levels are based on the 2015 Census Bureau poverty guidelines, and are not based on household size. Customers must also provide proof of two months of income, or proof of government assistance. “SNIP it” income levels are determined by taking the average of two months of income, multiplied by 12.
Income Level 1: $22,500 – $24,500 gross annual household income, or proof of government assistance.
Income Level 2: $19,500 – $22,499 gross annual household income, or proof of government assistance.
Income Level 3: $19,499 or less gross annual household income, or proof of government assistance.
Once you have completed your “SNIP it” application form, return the form to the Humane Society of the Black Hills to continue the process. Customers must pay for services in advance of their appointment. Payment options include PayPal, credit/debit card, or cash (click the yellow “Donate” button below for PayPal or card payment options). Services are performed each Thursday.
